Air Combat Runs Away with Churchill Allowance

It was a second win in his four career starts for Air Combat (3c o/o Please Be Discreet) on Friday when the Hinkle Farms-bred romped home in a Churchill Downs Allowance.

Trained by John Ortiz for Gary and Mary West, Air Combat bolted out of the gate and quickly took the lead. He was pressured throughout the six furlongs by New Year’s Fever. Tired of dueling with that one when they turned into the stretch, Air Combat started to pull away and had no other challengers late on as he pulled away to a 4 ½ length victory.

Air Combat was purchased for $130,000 by Ben Glass for the Wests at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.  The 3-year-old has finished on the board in all three of his 2022 starts, including two victories.
