Hinkle Farms-bred Billy’s Got Issues (3g out of Make Haste) had no issues finding the winner’s circle at Belmont Park on Thursday with a maiden-breaking win.

Racing over seven furlongs on the turf, Billy’s Got Issues was one of the back markers in the field as he raced along the rail under Dylan Davis. Around the turn, he moved closer to the front as Davis angled him outside much of the field and the Cairo Prince son took off in search of the lead.

He closed with every stride, but it wasn’t until the final few that he was credited with the lead, win by a neck in the end with the third placed runner four lengths behind him.

Trained by Ray Handal for West Paces Racing, Adelphi Racing Club, and Dark Horse Racing Stable, Billy’s Got Issues was a $110,000 purchase at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Oracle Bloodstock.

Billy’s Got Issues is a third generation Hinkle homebred and is one of five winners from six foals out of Make Haste. Out of fellow Hinkle-bred Buy the Barrel, Make Haste is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes placed Mise en Rose and multiple stakes placed Stave. Another one of her half-sisters is the dam of Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 placed Shivaji and stakes winner and multiple Grade 1 placed Tarabi.

Make Haste’s juvenile Sumer Front son named Veracruzin sold for $110,000 last year to Kenny Peek and she had a Catalina Cruiser filly last year before foaling a Cupid filly on February 18.
