Divisidero 2nd in Appleton

In his second lifetime start at a mile distance, Divisidero took on previous rival Force the Pass in the Gr. 3 Appleton S. at Gulfstream Park.  Ridden by jockey Edgar Prado, the 4-YO Kitten's Joy colt who typically runs from behind and switches gears in the final furlongs was roused down the back stretch to the middle of the pack.  Asked again around the final turn, Divisidero rallied for home, edged ahead of Force the Pass, and finished 1/2 length behind Reporting Star in a good effort.

Wide early and circling the field after the first quarter, Divisidero covered more ground than any other horse and ran 15 feet further than the winner, according to Trakus.

Divisidero is being pointed to the Gr. 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic on Derby Day, which is 1 1/8 miles on the turf and the same distance as the Pennine Ridge that he won in 2015.  The race that traditionally goes off right before the Derby is attracting tough competition with probables Big Blue Kitten, Bolo, Chocolate Ride, Danish Dynaformer, Finnegans Wake, Grand Arch, Reporting Star, Roman Approval, Tourist, and World Approval.

Divisidero is out of Hinkle Farms mare Madame Du Lac and was sold at the 2013 Keeneland September Sale to Tom and Erika Keithly of Gunpowder Farms. Hinkle Farms would like to congratulate Gunpowder Farms, Buff Bradley, Maria Kabel, Josh Stevens, Sam Logsdon, Rafael Hernandez, Edgar Prado and everyone else who had played a part, both large and small, in the success of this colt.  Best of luck on May 7th!
