It was a Grade 1 placing for Hinkle Farms-bred Japanese Group 3 winner Shivaji (6h o/o Indian Bay) in the G1 Sprinters Stakes over the weekend at Nakayama.

Racing closer to the lead in the six furlong turf race than he had in other starts, Shivaji came running late to finish a close third, just a head behind the second placed runner. They were two lengths behind the winner with 13 horses behind Shivaji.

Shivaji has won six starts with 10 other top three finishes in 27 starts for over $2 million in earnings.
