Hinkle Farms foaled and raised Highland Glory added a second stakes placing to her resume with a big run to register a second-place finish in Sunday’s Honey Ryder Stakes at Gulfstream.
A step slow out of the gate, the 3-year-old ran into even more trouble when she was forced to check around the first turn. After that she was happy to race as one of the back markers in the 1 1/16 mile turf race before steadily moving through the pack down the backstretch. Around the turn, Luis Saez weaved her through traffic and hit the go button in the stretch with Highland Glory closing strongly to finish a solid second.
Bred by Bonner Young as a third generation homebred from that breeding program, Highland Glory is out of the Grade 3-placed Hinkle resident Kristi With a K. Highland Glory earned her first stakes victory last out in the Listed Sanibel Island.
