Hinkle homebred Sal’s Blue Jacket (3f out of A Touch Of Glory) made a winning return to the races on Thursday when she won a Maiden Special Weight at Delaware Park.

Sal’s Blue Jacket immediately went to the lead in the 1 1/16 mile turf race where she raced freely under Carol Cedeno early on. Lightly pressured by another rival throughout the backstretch, Sal’s Blue Jacket left that rival behind as she navigated the turn.

Another horse took up the challenge of trying to run her down in the stretch but Sal’s Blue Jacket refused to bow down to that runner and dug deep to win by 1 ½ length in her second career start.

Trained by Michael Stidham, the Lea daughter never went through the ring and is a three-quarter sister to Grade 3 winner and Grade 2 placed Northern Passion and the stakes placed duo of Yahtzee Queen and Rutherford Rd.

Their 20-year-old dam is the dam of five winners from eight to race and herself is a stakes placed full sister to Canadian champion Ginger Gold and half-sister to stakes winner Kesagami.

A Touch of Glory also has a yearling full brother to Northern Passion to come.
