Monition Wins on Debut at the Pea Patch
RSS Feeds Friday, September 3, 2021

MONITION (g, 3, English Channel--Trevi Chic, by Roman Ruler), let go at 7-1 while breaking from the rail, was away cleanly and tucked in off the pace in about midpack. Able to continue along up the fence into the lane, the chestnut split foes at the sixteenth pole and out-kicked $2.15-million yearling Alexander Valley (Medaglia d'Oro) to prevail by 3/4 of a length. Out of a half-sister to GISW grasser Her Emmynency (Succesful Appeal), Monition has a 2-year-old half-sister by American Freedom and a foal half-brother by Divisidero. His dam was bred to Sharp Azteca for 2022. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,600.

8th-Ellis, $51,085, Msw, 9-3, 3yo/up, 1mT, 1:34.40, fm, 3/4 length, September 3, 2021.

Monition was bred, raised, and is owned by Hinkle Farms. After sustaining an eye injury as a foal, his breeders decided to keep him to race. He is the first foal out of the mare, Trevi Chic (Roman Ruler), who was claimed by Hinkle Farms in 2015.

Many thanks to his trainer, Cherie DeVaux, the team at Blackwood Stable, jockey Brian Hernandez Jr, the entire crew at the farm!
