Nepotism Wins Second Straight in Churchill Allowance

Sweet Tess son Nepotism (4g o/o Sweet Tess) won his second straight race at Churchill Downs on Wednesday with an Allowance victory.

Originally scheduled for the turf, the Allowance was moved to a mile on the dirt and Nepotism shined from the start. Racing just behind the leaders in fourth, Nepotism didn’t make his move until the field made its way into the stretch. He made his bid for the lead from there and the leaders gave in quickly as Nepotism raced away from them. Having a length on the field as they entered the final furlong, Nepotism was two lengths in front at the line.

Bred by Hinkle Farms, Nepotism is trained by Marianne Scherer for Daniel Lynch and has won three of his 15 races with 10 other top three finishes for over $250,000 in earnings.

A $210,000 Keeneland September Yearling purchase by Ralph and Lauren Evans, Nepotism is out of the stakes-placed Sweet Tess. That mare is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade 1 placed Lady Melesi, who has produced six stakes performers, led by three stakes winners.

Sweet Tess’s yearling sold for $290,000 at this year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale and she had an Outwork colt in 2022.
