Quaver Breaks Her Maiden at Belmont

On May 1, 2015 most people were busy watching Oaks coverage, but all of our attention was on a filly named Quaver, who was about to break her maiden at Belmont.  Off at 6-1 odds going 6 furlongs on the turf, Quaver settled near the back of the pack and held her position until the quarter pole.  After turning for home the bay filly swung out wide and was directed back closer to the rail.  With a sixteenth of a mile remaining, Quaver made a mad dash for the finish line and weaved between horses to win by 2 lengths.

Quaver was bred by Hinkle Farms and Joe Iracane.  She is a 2012 filly by Blame out of Skipper Tale by Tale of the Cat.  Hinkle Farms sold the filly in 2013 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale to Marc Keller, who still owns her.  She is trained by Robert Ribaudo and ridden by Angel Cruz.  She has a lifetime record of 1-0-0 in 2 starts with earnings of $47,000.  Congratulations to everyone involved!
