Already a juvenile stakes winner last term, Rail Hugger (3c o/o Hit Girl) added the Count Lathum Handicap to his resume with a 1 ¼ length victory at Century Mile.
Rail Hugger raced in midpack for much of the one-mile dirt race as he raced on the rail. Around the turn, he tried to make a move but was stopped due to traffic before finding a hole as the field entered the stretch. Once he was able to get rolling, he made easy work of getting the lead and started edging away to win by 1 ¼ lengths for his fourth career victory.
Bred by Hinkle Farms, Rail Hugger was purchased by John Hansen from Keeneland September in 2018. He is the second foal out of Hinkle homebred Hit Girl, who won four races for the farm.
