It was back-to-back Grade 1 victories for the Hinkle Farms-bred Deterministic (4c o/o Giulio’s Jewel) at Saratoga when he again showed his versatility in the one-mile G1 Fourstardave Stakes.

Cutting back a furlong in distance in this race, Deterministic settled off the leading My Boy Prince in this race when giving that one a length advantage. Kendrick Carmouche let the colt settle in that spot down the backstretch a few paths off the rail before starting to hustle him with just over a quarter left to run.

Coming three paths wide into the stretch, Deterministic chased down the long-time leader just outside the final furlong and started to build a margin in the final sixteenth. Bettors were able to take a deeper breath than in his last victory with Deterministic winning by 1 ¼ lengths to make a case for himself when it comes to Eclipse voting in the fall.

Raced by St. Elias Stable, Ken Langone, C. Steven Duncker and Vicarage Stable, the Miguel Clement trainee now has seven wins and four other top three finishes in 13 starts for $1,988,515 in earnings. Among those wins are three straight graded stakes victories in 2025 with the colt also winning a graded stakes on dirt as a sophomore.

A $625,000 Hinkle Farms graduate, Deterministic is one of three winners out of Giulio’s Jewel.
