Aftercare

We believe providing aftercare for thoroughbreds is vitally important, and we are committed to assisting horses we have bred, raised, or sold in their transition from racing or breeding. We work diligently to ensure these horses have a soft landing and whenever possible, the opportunity at a second career.

Below are a few of the horses we have helped retire or rehome in recent years.

If you or anyone you know has a horse that Hinkle Farms bred, raised or sold that is in need of aftercare assistance, please contact our office.

Casual Feat

Casual Feat was born in 1998 and is by His Ginger out of Cozzene.  She was bred and raced by Hinkle Farms. She won the GIII Regret S. at Churchill downs in 2001 and earned nearly $180,00 in her 13 starts. She was retired to be a broodmare in 2002 and produced several foals for her breeders before being sold in November 2010.

We kept track of her and stayed in touch with her new owners in Louisiana. We offered her a home after her broodmare days were over, and in 2018 she was shipped back to us.  Casual Feat arrived in September of 2018 and lives on the farm with fellow retirees.

Merger

Merger is a 2002 gelding by Mr. Greeley out of Toledo Queen (IRE). We bred and sold him as a yearling in 2003 at the Keeneland September Sale. He was sent to Europe where he was twice graded stakes placed and three times listed stakes placed.  He came back to the states in 2005 and made several more starts before retiring in 2006.

He was owned by a family in Florida from 2008 until 2019 when they reached out asking if we could provide a home for Merger as he was getting older and struggling to stay sound. Merger has done lots of hacking and low level dressage. Since June of 2019 he resides at Hinkle Farms with fellow retirees, enjoying lots green grass and rolling hills!

Two Across (IRE)

Two Across (IRE) is a 2010 mare by Cape Cross (IRE) out of Two Clubs (GB).  Hinkle Farms purchased Two Across (IRE) as a broodmare prospect in 2014.  After several years of struggling to conceive and carry a foal to term, we decided this lovely girl wasn't suited to the broodmare life.

She is still owned by the Hinkles and currently resides at Shadey Hill Farm in Georgetown, KY where she is in regular training as a sport horse. She is lightly worked six days a week and occasionally competes; however, she spends the majority of her time turned out with four other ponies that she adores.
